Dear families, I am a certified speech pathologist (CPSP) through Speech Pathology Australia and through the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). I have had the opportunity of working across the US and Australia helping hundreds of families who have children with communication difficulties. While working in a little rural town in Michigan, I came across my first clinical case of apraxia. Seeing the impact of CAS on this little child's ability to communicate their basic needs and wants (e.g., a sticker to reward their hard work in therapy), and the challenges the family faced daily, I decided that I wanted to look into how I can optimise CAS treatment to make a real and meaningful difference in the lives of children who have CAS. I have dedicated the past 10 years to researching CAS and as I have worked with children and families, I have seen how challenging, overwhelming and lonely this journey can feel for parents/carers.
I am so excited to be establishing the first branch of an Apraxia Support Group in the greater Brisbane area. My vision is for this support group to be run by parents/carers, for parents/carers. To register your interest in being part of this group, please complete this form.
I look forward to journeying with you, advocating for your child and helping you connect with families who can validate your experience!
